Candidacy matters more for women
Male transplant candidacy is often straightforward. For women it’s more nuanced: diffuse thinning patterns can affect the donor area itself, which limits what a transplant can achieve. A good surgeon evaluates donor density, rules out conditions that would undermine results, and is willing to say no. Treat any clinic that offers surgery without a thorough evaluation as a red flag.

Medellín has developed a genuine medical-tourism ecosystem for hair restoration: modern FUE clinics, surgeons with real volume, and pricing that can make the total cost of the trip — flights, recovery stay, procedure — compare favorably with a procedure alone at home. Recovery in the “city of eternal spring” is a nicer prospect than most.
